The Leading Maritime Institution in the Philippines

Hello, everyone, I would like to give some information all about the leading maritime institution here in the Philippines which is known as the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific or MAAP.

The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) was established on January 4, 1998, founded by Capt. Gregorio S. Oca also was known as the founding chairman of Associated Marine Officers' Union of the Philippines or AMOUSUP. Through the help of AMOSUP-PTGWO-ITF, Capt. Gregorio S. Oca envisioned and established MAAP. An academy where the best breed of merchant marine deck and engine officers in the world can be found.

MAAP is designed to be a world-class maritime academy consequently it is equipped with the state of the art facilities such as bridge motion simulator, engineering plant simulator, ECDIS training laboratories, electro mechanical system laboratories and other important facilities compliant to the requirements of STCW. The Academy offers four-year scholarship grants in Maritime Transportation and Maritime Engineering which is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Through the support of the union and private organization, the AMOSUP Seamen's Traning Center (ASTC) was also established to carry out programs and services to benefits Union's members and their dependents which are accredited by MARINA, TESDA, and MTC.

As to date, MAAP continues its journey in providing the best breed of merchants officers in the whole world.
